Olympic Truce

In Ancient Greece in 884BC, there were three kings who were eager for peace. The kings from Sparta (King Lycurgus), Elis (King Iphitos), and Pisa (King Cleisthenes) together signed on the treaty. From the seven days before the game to the seventh day following the closing of the Games, they agreed to stop fighting against each other. That was why the Olympic Truce was born.

In 1894 the modern Olympics were formed. But the Truce wasn’t back until a century later. There were still wars in the world. So in 1992 the IOC (International Olympic Committee) decided to bring the Truce back and hoped to protect the athletes.

In 2004 the first Truce Wall was created in the Athens Games by the Greek government. It was a visible symbol of peace. Athletes were asked to sign on it to promise to support the peace through sport.

Like the Sydney Games in summer, the North and South Korean teams entered the arena with the same flag. It shows that the Olympic Truce was useful for peace.

Now the Olympic Games means not only peace, but the chance to have a match with the top athletes around the entire world, and winning the game is much honored.

Food Fair & Table Manners

I think the Food Project was very interesting! I liked it a lot, because we could have class outside and ate things there. I think the “Spring Roll Ice cream” is very delicious! After they showed us how to make a spring roll ice cream, there was still a bunch of ice cream left and we ate it. It was really good! I really enjoyed it and had a lot of fun! We can eat and learn how to make the special Taiwanese local food! I hope we can have something similar to it again.

I think the Chinese table manners are so many and maybe complicated. There are many kinds of things you need to remember. If you don’t, the elders will be mad. But now it is not that strict anymore. Still I think it will be very impolite if you don’t obey the rules!

My summer vacation

I didn't go out to some very special place to play in the summer vacation. My brother had to go to school so we can't go out except in Kaohsiung.
I just went to see the Chocolate Exhibition, but I thought it was boring. The Terra-cotta warriors in the exhibition are all the same, so it let me feel disappointed.
So, just like what I said: I spend a very ordinary summer vacation!!

Field Trip

I'm glad that I was in the BBC. Because on Wednesday, we went out for a field trip! At about twelve thirty, we got into the bus and drove to the Chouchai Wetland. While I was there, I was happy because I didn't need to sit in that boring classroom like the others. I could stay outside, taking a walk and breathing the fresh air. We learned lots of things there, like the knowledge of some plants, butterflies, flies and birds. Time flew by, and it was time to go. We got snacks to eat, too. The funny part was, the bus driver didn't know where we were! Finally the bus driver found us, but it was at least thirty minutes late, so we were mad at him. I had a lot of fun in the wetland. Hope I can have a field trip again in the future!

The nightmare

Then “Surprise!” Someone shouted, it was my son, who stood in front of me, smiling. I’m not that nervous anymore, because there wasn’t anything wrong. My son was safe. Huh?! Wait a minute, I didn’t have a son! I just had a cute little daughter! Then who was this? He said his name was Debbie. Hey! That’s my name!

The phone rang again, “Help!” the babysitter cried. Then I realized that I was in the neighbor’s house, and that little boy was just kidding.

So I went back to my house and saw that the enormous big dog was at my house, biting the babysitter. I screamed, and the dog heard me. It said “Don’t make noises. This person is the devil. It came here to hurt you and your daughter, so I’m here to save you! Now shut up or I’ll leave and let you die!”

Then, when the enormous dog was about to give the devil the last bite, my daughter walked by and was killed by the dog!

 I screamed, I cried, I woke up. I’m glad it was only a dream.

Ferris wheel of Janhusun Theme Park

When my friend and I were at the theme park, the first thing we wanted to do was get onto the Ferris wheel. The Ferris wheel is very high, and we all fear heights. After we rushed into the Ferris wheel, the higher it moved, the more we regret. And we were unlucky, the bottom of the cabin was transparent! We were all afraid to look down. When we were up to the top, someone screamed! Finally, we were down back to the safe ground, and we swore not to get on the Ferris wheel again!
